PRAYER SHAWL FOR BETTY JO!

I found out about a month ago that one of my best friends has breast cancer.  For quite some time I have wanted to start a Prayer Shawl Ministry at our church - so now is the time.  I knitted this, had it blessed by our Priest and prayed over by 5 of us girls at church who will start this ministry and presented it to my friend to use in her hours of need.  Hope this gives her many hours of knowing how much she is loved and cared for.

There is such a need for this ministry - I have done some research on line and the wonderful stories of how this helps is amazing.  A local group of women whom get together to knit among themselves, provided one for one of their friends' husband who was very ill - after he passed away, his wife used it and still does - she says that it is a comfort to her now - feels like he has his arms around her.

This can be done for anyone - housebound, sick, military, new babies, etc -

Blessings & hugs!

HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!!

I LOVE my new socks!!!!!! They really were easy - just like everything else you have to pay attention to the pattern - but I highly recommend Margarites pattern.

I am going to start another pair soon - I have just finished a prayer shawl, had it blessed by our Priest and prayed on by my friends for one of my bestest friends who has breast cancer.   While us girls were praying on the shawl, one of us 5 girlfriends started crying, she has a good friend who also has breast cancer.  So I have another shawl half done and will finish it by Sunday so that I can give it to her.

Prayer shawls are so meaningful - I'm starting, as you can see, my own ministry of it at our Parish.
I will post pictures and more stories soon.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!!

Blessings & Hugs
(especially Margarite for the wonderful basket weave pattern)

2ND POSTING OF GERMAN SOCKS!

Here they are!  I have turned the heel and now I am going to put them back on one circular needle.  I was afraid - but it was easy - just really follow the pattern.  I love the pattern by Marguerite of http://www.stitchesofviolet.blogspot.com/ - again Marguerite, thank you.

Of course, it is just like anything else - practice, practice, practice.

OUR GIRLS!

Today I'm posting 'our girls'!  Betsy is a 16 month old Cavalier King Charles - 13 lbs of total love!!!!!  She is the most loving dog I have ever hand in my whole life!!!!!  I actually got her for a song - they sell for considerable money and I adopted her at 9 months because she has epilepsy - the breeder felt good about letting me adopt her since I had to put down my Cocker Spaniel in March - she was 12 and epilepsy since she was 2 years old and the breeder thought that she could would be good for us.

Then this is her sister, Heidi - a rescued Great Pyrenees!!!!!  She is 100#'s of love - I rescued her but she bonded with my husband.  They are wonderful dogs - look out for each other - always want to be with each other - we get looked at a lot when we walk them - Mutt & Jeff.

SALZBURG DALIHA

Isn't this the most beautiful Daliha ever!  This one plus the one on my blog's heading are both taken from Salzburg Austria near where the Sound of Music was filmed - they had them in every color you could imagine.   I think that I'm going to paint this!

I have gotten the heel flap done on my Munich socks and have picked up the stitches for the instep - I had to put it down for a while - I think that I'm stuck - will try to go on with it this weekend.

Thanks for looking at my Blog!!!!!

My Red Velvet Rose

The pictures doesn't do this Rose justice - it is absolutely magnificient!!!!!  My neighbor gave the plant to me a couple of years ago - she didn't like it.  I don't think I have a green thumb - this beautiful thing grew itself.  I bet I have had at least 3 dozen long stem red roses off of this plant this year.  I wish I knew what kind it is - I have this one on my desk at work and everyday it opens even more.  I must paint this -

MY GERMAN SOCKS!

Here we are!!!!! I bought this yarn in Munich, Germany last month - they have wonderful yarn shops over there.  I bought 2 skeins of this - I will have to post what it is when I post the finished product - I can't remember and I don't have the label with me.  Plus it is written in German - it has a free sock pattern, in German, which I don't read of speak - if anyone would like it, I will forward it to you!

I'm doing the Basketweave Ribbing Sock Pattern kindly posted free by Marguerite of http://www.stitchesofviolet.blogspot.com/ - again Marguerite, thank you.

I have another pair of socks that I started from the toe up and ready to do the heel turn - or whatever it is called - and afraid to challange it.  So I started these when I saw Marguerite's pattern - sounded simple but now I'm at the other end of the heel thinging - getting scared!  But I must pursue!!!!  Be strong - fight the challange - don't I sound strong?

We will see -  stay tuned for the next chapter!

PEG'S JOURNAL

Here is something that I have done this summer - I made 6 of these for my bestest friends!  Truly my the best support group you could ever wish for!  I covered  a wirebound journal completely with paper and added the embellishments - I custom each one for each person's personality - it was a lot of fun to do.

Please keep checking back on my blog - I am into a little of everything right now.  The old Bev is back - as my previous post indicated I have had a rough summer but feeling much better now.

I'm doing a little painting, a little knitting, a little scrapbooking, etc. -  the muse is back in me - just so that I finish something!!!!!

Thanks for looking!!!1

UPDATE ON PELICAN

I'm liking this better and better - I know his one foot is definitely not done - my husband wants me to put in a surprise - like a shrimp boat far in the back or an umbrella on the beach - but I can't decide what to do - I would love some advice.

I also know that I want more color in the beak - they are not colorful birds but I still want a tad more.

Stay tuned for more!

NEXT STAGE OF PELICAN

I have changed my mind about the background - I like this idea better since it won't be taking away from the Pelican much!

PELICAN IN DAYTONA BEACH

This is prismacolor on mi-teintes goldish color paper. He is standing on a railing and there will be water, then a stone wall (I think). Just kind of playing it by ear.  I don't like the sky at all but bear with me!

FINAL STAGE OF BEAR (I think)

And here is a closeup of her also!

This isn't the best photo - the flash was too bright on the right side.

I think that I am done - Please contact me if you are interested - I'm getting ready to take her and have my prints made.

NEXT STAGE OF BEAR

Here is the (maybe) final picture of Bear. As you can see, the reference photo is there also - I wasn't particular that it matched exactly - just that it looked like a real cat!

'BEAR' - CAT! Part 2

Here is my next stage of Bear - when I have her setting up and come into the room - it is like she is following me with her eyes. Could it be? She is going quite fast - should have the finishing touches on her tomorrow.
Thanks for looking!!

'BEAR' - CAT!

This is a posting of my latest work in progress. This is my Grandson's cat 'Bear' - it is not so important that it looks exactly like Bear but similiar and as good work.

It is about 10 x 12 on tan mi-teintes paper with prismacolor pencils.

BIRTHDAY SURPRISE CARD

This is another thing that I do - I make custom Greeting Cards. Most of my cards are made to fit a 5 x 7 envelope. I did not record who made the different papers that I use. The card itself is cardstock, with glitter paper, shiny paper, foam flowers with brads, the present has a metal heart charm attached with a large brad and, of course, some bling! I wish the picture was better but with the shiny paper and the bling, it was hard to get a good picture. It is much colorful that what is shown. The present was cut on the Cricut.

CHRISTMAS MEMORIES

This is a print of my winter scene done in oil rouging. It is a pen & ink drawing of a sled and a basket of berries and ferns against a wood fence. Notice the mouse footprints and the mouse house. This measures 9 x 11 on great quality archival safe paper. This design was created by Mary Owens - I added the berries and twigs to the basket.
Hope you enjoy this!

SUNFLOWER MORNING

This is another original by Lady Beverly!

It measures 9 x 11 on pale yellow mi-teintes paper done on the smooth side. I use only Prismacolor pencils and blend with Gamsol. This technique makes my paintings look just like painting.

I did this painting from a photograph taken by a good friend of mine. It was taken in her backyard last summer - first time I saw it I knew that I needed to paint it.

Thanks for looking!

I'm back - after hectic holidays and doing many new projects, I'm back with my blog.

This is 'Miss Sabrina' - she is a chick with an attitude done in Prismacolor color pencils. She is done on mi-tiense matboard and blended with gamsol. She is appoximately 10 x 14. I have her on Etsy now - I'm selling the print for $40.00.

Please check back often - my goal for 2010 is to have much more!
