As you can see I have done some changes to the General's picture. I made is right arm about 1/2" wider and his right cheek is out a little more. This color on this picture is more true to the original one than the other post. I used the solvent method on this and really like the look - I didn't do it on the head but on the uniform - it makes it look like a painting. I'm getting more comfortable in doing portraits - in fact I'm really liking it.

We are finally getting some nice weather here starting today - anxious to paint outside.

Check out my Etsy postings. www.wilbee26.etsy.com - I have 2 listings on there right now and intend to add more every day.

I will post more later!

Happy Thursday!!!!!

GENERAL AUGUSTUS SEWELL

Here is my latest color pencil painting. It is 10x13 on mitense paper. I think that I need to readjust it. It was fun to do - I like using OMS on the color pencil technique - it looks like I actually painted it. The wax just melts together. I will post the update when I figure out how to correct them.

Happy Painting everyone!!!!!

This is my attempt to do one of the twin grandsons - I'm not really pleased with this - I think that I need to do something different with his mouth.

I am currently working on a geranium watercolor that I will post soon.

Thanks for looking - please leave me comments.

Magnolia

Here is my watercolor magnolia - it was done on 300# arches and has the salt technique done on it. This is one of my first - I had never done the salt before - isn't it amazing our little tricks that we do - before I started studying art - I would never thought of putting salt on my wet picture!!!! Always something fun and interesting - that's why it is 'Happy Painting'.

KOHL'S PRIDE

I just finished this - it is a 10 x 12 color pencil painting. This dog is a theraphy dog belonging to a co-member of the Exchange Club here in Springfield. Actually, it is his daughter's dog - Kohl. They dress him up for different occasions. She made a note card from her snapshot and he brought it to show me since I love dogs. I loved it and asked permission for me to paint it. I decided to do the color pencil on bristol smooth with prismacolors. I also used Odor Mineral Spirits which turns it into a wonderful painting look picture. I have also made prints of this which will both be available on my website which will be up shortly.

Happy April 1st!!!!!
